Microsurgical varicocelectomy is performed under a high-powered operating microscope to achieve the highest success rates.  Sperm test outcomes after microsurgical varicocelectomy is better than those after other conventional techniques with significantly higher improvement of sperm quality, shorter postsurgical clinical treatment, and the lowest rate of postsurgical complications.

What is the success rate of varicocele surgery?

One out of 10 men have a post-surgery recurrence of a varicocele. However, most studies show that microsurgical offers the best overall treatment within the surgical options, procedures have a 70-80% long-term success rate.

How long does it take to recover from varicocele surgery?

You will probably be able to return to work or your normal routine in 2 to 3 days after microscopic surgery, depending on your job.

Can varicocele surgery cause erectile dysfunction?

Bilateral varicocele (grade 3) is associated with significant reduction in testicular function with significant increase in serum levels of FSH and LH, which may cause erectile dysfunction and male infertility.
